Our spring photo is by Katie Baroody, a senior media and arts design major at JMU. She donates 20% of proceeds from the sale of her photography work to B.E.A.C.H. (www.b-e-a-c-h.org) Katie spent a week volunteering with B.E.A.C.H in 2010 helping to clean the vast amounts of debris from the Pacific Garbage Patch that ends up on beaches in Hawai’i.
The Energy of Spring
Wood is the element that energetically influences this time of year. Thematically it is all about creation, the birth of new ideas, planning, organizing and getting into action after the long dormant season of winter. The wood element is associated with the color green. Katie’s photograph of an emerging Hosta leaf perfectly captures not just green, but the shouting quality of spring. As we watch spring unfold around us, use this energy to help you re-evaluate your life, make decisions about what you want to change, give birth to new and bright dreams for the future and most importantly to influence your ability to follow through in creating what you want.
